1st week of VBS is over!

Hello everyone! Sorry about the delay of the first post! Been a bit preoccupied during the first week, but here it is!

Before I go on with the pictures and the "good" part, there are just a few announcements I would like to make.

Here is the general schedule for next week:

As you can see, we have 3 fieldtrips next week. You MUST provide us with the carseats for all of those field trips. Please drop it off when dropping off your child on those mornings. Thursday is the fieldtrip to Van Saun Park zoo, and this is the only field trip during the week that each child MUST wear their VBS shirt to school.

We will also have picture day on Tuesday, and every student MUST wear their VBS shirts on this day.

Here is the lunch schedule for the next week:
The lunch on THURSDAY does not apply to us because we will be going on an all-day fieldtrip and lunch has to be packed from home. So please do not forget to pack a lunch AND a snack for your child on Thursday of next week.
If you see anything else that you know you're child will not eat, please pack a lunch for your child on that day.

Also, please let me know ASAP if your child has any food allergies. As of now, our list indicates that only one student in our class has an allergy. Please let me know via email if your child has an allergy. If your child's allergy is severe, please also provide us with an Epi-pen for emergencies.

WELCOME TO OUR CLASS'S BLOG!

Hello everyone! Welcome to Pre-k (4) class's blog! My name is Alice (Minjee) Kim, and I will be the teacher for this class. In the picture above, was my class for the VBS last summer. I'm the one in the orange t-shirt! The person in the back that's in the middle is my TA, Esther Song. We are really super excited to start our first day of VBS! I can't wait to meet everyone and have an awesome 6 weeks together! Firstly, I would like to tell you a little bit about myself...

I recently graduated from Rutgers University with a bachelor's degree in Psychology. I am also currently enrolled in the Graduate School of Education and will be graduating in May 2014 with a master's in education along with a dual certification in Pre-k ~3rd grade and K~5. Obviously you can tell that I will be specializing in early childhood education, so I really love working with young children.

Esther is a mother of 2 and she definitely is, in many ways, an anchor in our classroom. I feel very fortunate to have her by my side and working together this summer. Young children love her, because she is funny and very animated, but she is also very responsible!

As you can see, Esther and I were involved in the VBS last summer, we had such a great experience. I truly loved coming into school everyday to see these beautiful children grow before my eyes! I miss them so dearly, but I'm also very excited to meet my new class this year!

I would like to take this time to provide you with a list of school supplies.

  1. LABELED Plastic container that will be used to store the student's belongings (dimensions about 7x15" and height 5")
  2. One pack of baby wipes
  3. One small bottle of hand sanitizer
  4. One glue stick
  5. One change of clothes (including underwear)
  6. Sleeping bag (naptime)
  7. One tissue box
  8. One Folder (with pockets)
  9. Epi-pen (for students with allergy conditions)
  10. Benadryl (for students with allergy conditions)
  11. One water bottle to school everyday
  12. Pack a snack to school everyday (please pack healthy snack, not too sugary)
Please remember to label all supplies with the child's name!!!!
Also, please be mindful that there may be students with food allergies so please refrain from packing nuts.
We will also send home notices & important information, student work, and other paper work by using the students' folders, so please be sure to check them after school every day, especially on Fridays!

I will be updating the blog about 1-2 times a week with pictures, notices, and other information. Please check often for the updates!

My email is minjeekim0808@gmail.com if you need to contact me directly.
Esther's email is esthersong2000@gmail.com

Again, welcome to our class, and see you Monday, July 1st!
